2013 Casto Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet from California

About

The 2013 vintage is widely considered to be the finest in nearly 30 years for most growing regions in California.

This was certainly the case with our 2013 Gardner Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. A single vineyard Cabernet that captures the true expression of Sierra Foothills wine.

An especially warm and dry spring to start the season kicked off a vintage that would see ideal temperatures throughout harvest.

The Gardner Vineyard rests at 3000′ elevation and nearly dry farmed. Moderate heat throughout the day paired with cool evenings, round this wine with a firm acidity and tannin structure to provide exceptional balance.

Aged fifteen months in new American oak, hints of Vanilla and ripe cherry, rich and full bodied with solid tannins give this selection the backbone to age gracefully.

One and a half years of bottle age before release, drink now through 2030. Ninety Seven percent Cabernet comprised of clone four and clone six.

A 2017 San Francisco Chronicle best of class winner! Two hundred fifteen cases produced  ph 3.7, residual sugar .3 g/l, abv 14.4%
